US advises Israel against Gaza invasion

The United States (US) has advised Israel against invading the Gaza strip now, the New York Times reported on Monday. 

As per the report, the US wants to buy more time for hostage negotiations, including some Americans, for humanitarian aid.

The report adds that advise to Tel Aviv to hold off land war is being advised through Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. Austin is having nearly daily calls with his Israeli counterpart to discuss operational matters, including threats to US interests in the region. 

As the humanitarian crisis worsens, Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, says it is important for food and fuel supplies to reach Gaza.
